As your therapist, I want to ensure that your information is always protected under HIPAA. This means that everything we discuss in therapy will remain confidential between us. However, there are a few exceptions to confidentiality. If you or someone else is at risk of harm—such as through suicidal or homicidal thoughts or claims of abuse—I am legally required to take action and notify the appropriate authorities as a mandated reporter.
As a telehealth provider, I take every precaution to ensure our conversations are private and secure. Please use headphones and participate in our sessions from a private space to maintain confidentiality.
Additionally, my clinical supervisor, Holly Hintz, LCSW may review my session notes. She is also a licensed professional bound by the same ethical guidelines, so your information will only be shared with them under the same confidentiality rules, with the exceptions mentioned above.
In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and understanding what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask about your experiences, challenges, and goals to create a clear picture of how I can best support you. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share your expectations, and determine if we’re a good fit for your therapeutic journey.
