Meet Cynthia Homan, MSW, LCSW

Supporting Seniors, Families, and Caregivers with Compassion and Expertise

Cynthia Homan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 10 years of experience working alongside senior citizens and their families as they navigate the challenges of aging, complex medical conditions, and the emotional toll that caregiving can bring. Her work is rooted in compassion, respect, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of older adults and their loved ones.

🌱 Cynthia’s Approach

Cynthia’s style is warm, collaborative, and supportive. She believes in empowering clients with both practical tools and emotional insight so they can find hope, resilience, and healing. Whether she is supporting seniors facing life transitions or guiding caregivers through compassion fatigue, her goal is to help families feel understood, supported, and stronger together.

Areas of Expertise

Supporting Seniors with Complex Medical Issues

Cynthia specializes in helping seniors cope with the emotional and relational challenges that come with chronic or life-limiting medical conditions. She provides therapy and support for:

  • Adjusting to new medical diagnoses and treatment plans
  • Coping with loss of independence or mobility
  • Managing depression, anxiety, or grief related to illness
  • Strengthening communication and understanding within families
  • Addressing end-of-life concerns with dignity and peace

Supporting Families and Caregivers

Caring for a loved one with complex medical needs can be both meaningful and overwhelming. Cynthia helps families work through:

  • Emotional stress and worry about a loved one’s health
  • Relationship strain between family members during times of crisis
  • Decision-making challenges related to care planning
  • Finding ways to honor both the patient’s wishes and the family’s well-being

💙 Compassion Fatigue & Caregiver Support

Caregiving requires tremendous emotional energy, and over time, caregivers can begin to feel depleted, disconnected, or overwhelmed — this is known as compassion fatigue.

Cynthia provides a safe space for caregivers to process their feelings, restore balance, and learn new skills, including:

  • Recognizing signs of compassion fatigue before they become overwhelming
  • Setting healthy boundaries to preserve energy and emotional well-being
  • Practical coping strategies to manage stress and reduce burnout
  • Reconnecting with purpose, resilience, and joy in the caregiving role

Through therapy, caregivers learn that it is possible to care for others while also caring for themselves. Cynthia equips them with tools to restore their strength, nurture their own health, and improve the quality of their relationships.
